War: The Battle You Didn’t Know You Were In

Description

🎙️ Buckle up, because this isn’t your typical kind of Catholic podcast. In this episode, Mr. Haines drops a truth bomb: being Catholic means you’re at war — a real war. Not with swords or lasers, but one that’s fought in your heart, your mind, and your will.

From the war in heaven to your daily fight to do what’s right, this episode reveals how the spiritual life is sometimes more like a battlefield than a picnic...if you're doing it right! You’ll hear why saints like St. Ignatius of Loyola and St. Joan of Arc saw faith as a fight, and how the biggest enemy you’ll ever face might just be… yourself. So put on the armor of Christ and let's get to work.

Hey, here’s that other podcast I mentioned in the episode. It’s the story of the great war in Heaven, how it continued in the Garden of Eden, and why it continues even to this very day. Check it out

ABOUT THE EPISODE ART

The Archangel Michael defeating Satan (1635) by by Guido Reni in Baroque style.

Look familiar? This is the same painting that is now hanging inside our church!

There are many variations of this imagery in classical art, but Reni’s 1635 masterpiece is perhaps the most widely recognized. Paintings and images of St. Michael the Archangel defeating satan is inspired by this passage in the Bible:

Then war broke out in heaven; Michael and his angels fought against the dragon.
The dragon and his angels fought back, but they were not strong enough,
and they lost their place in heaven.
The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan,
who leads the whole world astray.
He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.”
— Revelation 12:7–9
